Floatation Therapy

Experience the ultimate relaxation and rejuvenation with Floatation Therapy, a scientifically supported wellness practice designed to heal your body and calm your mind. During your session, you’ll float effortlessly in a pool filled with magnesium-rich minerals, heated to match your body’s natural temperature, creating a weightless, zero-gravity experience.

This serene, meditative state has been clinically shown to reduce stress levels by significantly lowering cortisol and increasing serotonin and dopamine production. Research highlights that just one hour of float therapy provides the equivalent restorative benefits of 4-6 hours of deep sleep, supporting improved energy levels and cognitive function.

Float therapy is highly effective for managing pain and inflammation. Clinical studies confirm its ability to alleviate arthritis, chronic back and neck pain, and tendinitis by reducing muscle tension and improving blood circulation. It also plays a significant role in lowering high blood pressure through enhanced relaxation and reduced stress responses.

Why Float?

Contrary to popular belief, float therapy is not a new concept, dating back to 1954? Invented by neuropsychiatrist Dr. John C. Lilly (neuropsychiatrist), the first flotation device was designed to explore the effects of sensory deprivation on brain function. His groundbreaking work revealed how eliminating external stimuli could enhance relaxation, alter consciousness, and promote healing—a practice now embraced worldwide for its profound benefits.

At Holistic Health Float & Wellness Centre, we’ve reimagined this timeless therapy to create an extraordinary experience. Unlike traditional enclosed pods, our spacious, open float rooms are designed to elevate comfort and personalization. With pools as expansive as a super king bed, you have the freedom to navigate your session with ease—even sharing the experience with a partner.

Clinical studies show that float therapy reduces stress hormones like cortisol, enhances serotonin and dopamine production, and offers relief from conditions such as chronic pain, arthritis, and insomnia.

Customize your session by choosing soothing lights or music, or immerse yourself in the full sensory-reduction experience of stillness and darkness. Research has found that sensory deprivation in float therapy can induce a meditative theta brainwave state, unlocking creativity and promoting deep relaxation.

Step into a sanctuary of healing, innovation, and serenity. Experience the science-backed benefits of float therapy in a setting that prioritizes your comfort and well-being at Holistic Health Float & Wellness Centre.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) About Floatation Therapy

How do you ensure the water is clean?

At our float therapy facility, water cleanliness and hygiene are our top priorities. The water in our float tanks is meticulously maintained to be exceptionally pure. It is filtered multiple times between sessions with our Advanced Filtration System, sterilized with UV light, eco-friendly oxidizing agent and maintained with high magnesium levels. With these robust cleaning protocols, we guarantee a pristine and hygienic environment for all our guests, allowing you to relax and enjoy your float therapy experience with complete peace of mind.

I’m claustrophobic, is it for me?

This is a very common question. Our room is one of the largest as well as our float therapy is extremely spacious and inviting, purposely built to be open so not enclosed for this specific reason and we also have opted to custom build it to be more than double the size of most others so you and your nearest and dearest can enjoy floating together.

During your float, you are in complete control of the environment. To ease into it, for your first float or two you can choose to float with the light on, music or a guided meditation. You can customize your experience to suit your needs.

On a whole, floating is a very freeing experience and extremely beneficial to anyone who suffers from stress and anxiety.

I’m pregnant. Can I float?

Yes absolutely. In fact, pregnant women have used floating to relieve the stress on their bodies for decades. It is the most ideal time to float! If you’re in your first trimester or have any concerns, please consult with your doctor before booking a float. Studies have shown that magnesium during pregnancy may be able to help your baby. Such things as decrease pre‐eclampsia (high blood pressure and protein in the urine during pregnancy), and increase birthweight. *  Help with muscle, leg cramping and sleep. If you have extremely low iron some clients have experienced feeling a little nausea after floating.

How do I prepare for my float?

There is little you need to do but a couple of things to keep in mind. It is best to avoid shaving or waxing before floating. Please don’t float if your hair dye is within 2 weeks of treatment or still coming out. Please do not wear any hair or skin products prior to floating and we advise not to drink coffee for at least a couple of hours beforehand. Other than that, there is little you need to do except show up!

When should I arrive?

Please aim to arrive 10 minutes early and take a few minutes to settle in and ground before your session begins. Entering your float room in a relaxed state will maximize your float experience.

What if I fall asleep?

It's not uncommon for people to fall asleep, or to think they have fallen asleep. As your body relaxes and your mind restores, your brain moves into Theta state, that which you enter into as you drift between waking and sleep consciousness, or if you are moving into a deep meditation. If it happens, it's a sure sign that you need to take this rest for yourself. You will continue to float normally and lights will awaken you in the last 10 minutes. Rest assured too; it is impossible to drown in such a highly dense salt solution so enjoy the rest.

Under what circumstances should I not float?

Please do not shave or wax the day of your float. Due to the high density of magnesium in the water, the chances of your skin being irritated if it has just been shaved, is quite high. We recommend avoiding floating if you on the first three days of your menstrual cycle, if you have just had a spray tan, have open cuts/abrasions. Also, if you have recently dyed your hair, and it is running in the shower and/or present on towels when drying your hair, please schedule your session when your hair color has set, typically one-two week after your coloring.

Can I eat before I float?

Yes, a light meal is fine. If possible though try to eat a few hours before hand so you won't need to use the bathroom in the middle of your session. Also avoid caffeine a few hours prior to help you relax. It is essential to drink plenty of water after your float to help your body stay hydrated.

How long does a float session last?

Most float therapy sessions last 60-90 minutes, but shorter or longer sessions may be available depending on your needs.

What should I do to prepare for my float?

  • Avoid shaving, waxing, or dyeing your hair close to your session.

  • Skip caffeine a few hours before floating.

  • Eat a light meal beforehand, but avoid heavy meals or drinking too much fluid.

How often should I float?

The frequency depends on your goals. Many people float weekly or bi-weekly for maintenance, while others float as needed for stress relief or recovery.

Who should avoid floatation therapy?

Avoid floating if:

  • You have an open wound or skin irritation.

  • You are in the early days of a menstrual cycle.

  • You’ve had a recent spray tan or hair dye treatment.
